The Black Pegasus at Sherwood Farm is pleased to welcome Brian Kilgo-Kelly to our training team.

Brian Kilgo-Kelly

Brian Kilgo-Kelly has competed in Three-Day Eventing through the upper levels, and has extensive experience introducing horses and riders to the sport’s three disciplines: dressage, show jumping, and cross country. He is especially passionate about starting young horses, and working with “problem” horses. Brian grew up in southwestern Idaho doing ranch work, showing horses in 4-H, starting mustangs, and competing in local rodeos. He is a B graduate of the United States Pony Club. In 2000, Brian moved to California to train full time with leading USEA Area 9 trainer Yves Sauvignon.

Brian’s teaching and training philosophy is that patient, correct practice is the only way to progress, and that a strong foundation of basic horsemanship is essential to any discipline. He loves working with all kinds of horses, and riders of all ages, skill levels, and interests. He will tailor a program to the student’s individual needs to instill confidence and help them achieve their goals, whatever they may be.

He offers beginner and intermediate lessons on safe horses, in either English or western saddles. Private and group lessons are available. Brian also offers lessons in the eventing disciplines: dressage, jumping, and cross country. Horse training is available (including backing and starting) in packages that are flexible to meet the client’s needs.
